What's #Trending in Insurance!

Your home looks blah now that all the holiday decorations have been put away, the new year’s resolution diet has already been broken and the Christmas bills are rolling in.  Take a deep breath – it’s only mid-January, you can still turn this month around!   New Year’s always symbolizes a fresh start and there is no better way to bring on that feeling of optimism and confidence quite like saving a little money in your budget.  Looking forward to 2019, there are some new and exciting ways that you can revamp your insurance policies and loosen up that wallet for some fun this year!

Trending in the insurance industry right now is rewarding customers that are proactive with their homes safety, prevention and security.  There are many small ways to ensure that your property is safeguarded in the best possible way.  Have you considered installing a doorbell camera?  How about putting in a backup battery on your sump pump or considering purchasing a generator?   Some other, less expensive ideas would be to consistently clean out your eves trough’s and trim your tree limbs.  Ensure that your firepit is stored a safe distance from your home and garage and keep your electrical, furnace, roof and plumbing updated.  All these small projects can equal up to a ton of preventative work and could allow you a higher deductible, lower premiums and also you could avoid claims all together.

Safety and prevention in the auto industry have also taken huge strides in the past couple of years.  Many vehicles are now available with updated safety features (think stability control, backup assist cameras and adaptive cruise control) and insurance policies may offer new discounts for these elements.  Think hitting the books can save you a little bit of dough?  It absolutely can – people who completed a defensive driving course were awarded on average a $100 discount on their premiums according to www.defensivedriving.com.

Regulated Compliance sounds like a boring term but it is important to our customers in this way – it allows us to accommodate our clients in the best possible fashion while still adhering to the standard insurance laws.  As a local independent agent Martin & Martin is able to layer discounts with many different variables.  Our new Occupational and Educational Discounts are an example of that, we may be able to offer yet another discount layer based on the occupation you choose to follow.  Some things in life you have control over and some things you don’t – insurance is for what you don’t have control over.  Give us a call today to discuss ways we can help ensure that you have control over your premium!
